June 7, 2021 - Update

Okay, so this whole Color of the Week thing is STILL HAPPENING -- However, I will be posting them HERE. Sunday posts will be COTW. Previous COTWs if you've missed 'em:

MAY 9 - 2021

Woo Hoo! I am so excited for this - COLOR OF THE WEEK!

The first color of the week is...

The hex code is: #023ac9

#023ac9 color image

It's a very strong, beautiful blue! I honestly really like this color. The complementary color is called Chinese Gold, and it's kinda a copper-y gold bronze-y thing... Cute, but boring.

Complementary color palette of 023AC9. Complementary color is C99102

Here is a perfect 7-color rainbow (Okay, mini complaint here -- WHY IS IT 7 COLORS??? Can't it please be just 6 colors? You have 3 warm colors and 3 cool colors, and it's a perfect balance. -__-) with Absolute Blue as the blue...

This whole color of the week thing is new to me, so I wasn't exactly sure what to do...

Am I going about this wrong? You tell me. Give me suggestions, edits, ideas, anything. It's okay. Thanks!

MAY 16 - 2021

Okay this one is cool - "Mexican Pink", a.k.a #e4007c.

Mexican Pink (Hex code: E4007C) Thumbnail

Pretty awesome color, huh?

Apparently there is a "Mexican Pink" Wikipedia article, so...

(I'm not copy and paste-ing)

In Mexico, this color is thought of as a national identifier and a symbol of charisma. The color became popular through the work of journalist, painter, cartoonist, and fashion designer Ramón Valdiosera. During the mid-1940s, Valsiosera went on a research trip to Mexcio. He met many people there, and collected clothing from the places he visited. He was fascinated by the many different styles, and wished to update the traditional clothes into contemporary, current clothing. He revisited Mexico City and set up a workshop, focusing on reviving and creating new life for these pieces.

The color is also seen often in the work of well-know architect, Luis Barragan.

Oh yeah! Check this out - The taxis in Mexico City have a version of Mexican Pink on them (They've used this design since 2014) !

Fun Fact re the taxi thing: Mexico City cabs used to be bright green, but the mayor made an order for them to painted pink. (They probably didn't all get painted at the same time. Mexican city streets must have looked a bit like a watermelon! Ha!)
