June 27, 2021 - COTW

For today's COTW post, I decided to go a bit more subdued. This color is called "Vintage Turquoise":

The complementary color is called rose gold. Both of these colors are much duller than I normally go with, but they are really pretty anyways.

Complementary color palette of 6DB6AD. Complementary color is B66D76

I actually happen to have a sweatshirt in this color but I can't find a picture of it... (I got it at Kohl's)

These COTW posts are basically me documenting my rabbit holes, but it's fun anyways:

( i'm getting this info from wikipedia, not copy and paste-ing)

So, apparently "vintage" is a wine term? I don't drink wine (i'm 11. duh)  so I'm not particularly interested in this...

Found it! Vintage is basically the style of old stuff, mostly about 2 generations old, normally used in reference to design, interiors, and clothes (thank god it's not a style of FOOD) .

Vintage is especially popular in fashion. The dress below is available on Amazon for $29.99

It's a dress in the a style of a 1950s cocktail dress. This is the vintage style, whereas the dress below is actually vintage:

sorry i couldn't make it smaller

This looks like something a relatively upper-class cocktail dress, right? It's also a 1950's style. Notice the difference between the two. The amazon one is less detailed and much simpler. The 1950's cocktail dress has a lot of little beading if you look closely. The style is much more pleated, and it looks much less machine-made. If looking for vintage, take to the google!
